The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.
Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, marking the club's poorest streak since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult evening at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from above,” Slot commented.
“It's important to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's expected that people question you.”
He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”
When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”
He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”
The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and defensive lapses.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder said.
“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”
He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period such as this with performances this poor.”
He finished, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”
“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”
“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
