The German coach, who departed from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer within the Red Bull organization and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
They secured the Premier League last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would be thrilled by the possibility of his potential comeback. In a wide-ranging interview, he explained to Steven Bartlett: “I said I will never coach another team on English soil. Which implies should it be the Reds...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, so the choice could be mine down the line, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? Then I will not coach again. Luckily, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
Questioned regarding which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, he revealed he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; I don’t miss standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. Success was frequent thus frequently positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled to illustrate.”
He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the tweaks that took the title in the previous season. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest following significant transfers, but he rubbished the notion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, excellent performer. They have a strong balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret about Liverpool, they will be fine.”
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed in 2020, and the effect for the team. The Portugal international died tragically in a car crash alongside his brother in July.
“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it's his character. It's hard to picture the dressing room missing him. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. It was an incredible shock for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it as an excuse though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Unbearable.”
