The second-hand marketplace Members Share Displeasure Over Sizing Updates

Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has altered its measurement guidelines for female and kids' apparel failing to inform all users about the change.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Sizing System Modifications

Before the change, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

User Stories

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, from Glasgow, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she stated.

Required Changes

Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
