Thrice-crowned NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "devastating" injury to his knee when the Denver Nuggets were defeated 147-123 against the Heat.
Jokic was hurt towards the end of the second quarter following an inadvertent coming together with fellow Nugget Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of Jokic, and he instantly fell to the floor holding his knee.
The star, who leads the league this season in boards and dimes, had 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before suffering the setback.
He will have an MRI scan on the following day to determine the seriousness of the problem.
"Right away, he realized there was a problem," stated Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone that gets hurt, that's gut-wrenching, particularly somebody as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"We will continue as a team. Obviously, currently, I am more worried about Jokic as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that."
