The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.
Trailing 3-1, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for this squad, our city, our country," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."
George Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, making him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd choose in that spot besides George Springer with his October magic," said manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise that has never reached in a championship series.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their work this season.
"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we finished on the losing end of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays secured the title on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and will welcome the Dodgers in the opener on Friday.
