Ways these Denver Broncos and the 'play-dough' QB could halt the Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available on select stations covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and following last week's talk regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Notable during those contests were the number of infractions both committed. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they kind of defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period against Denver, set to play in London this weekend.

But it was positive to observe how Denver quarterback Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall before lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.

The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.

They had effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing more than four defenders but they might position two linebackers in the interior then drop them out and send a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that Denver might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big while recent RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable situations.

It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as a first-round selection last year, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional passing ability, a unique trait, and he's so athletic.

His assets include his mobility, the capacity to throw on the run, and using different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass across the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He tries to evade a sack whenever possible and is able throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

When you constantly rush it eats up time and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the field vertically and horizontally. This proves draining.

The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think the coach appreciates that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to have a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for the coach.

The head coach has won a championship and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are experiencing on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him what he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do against the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (10th worst), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to go without a single takeaway through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says the Chiefs are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge for the top of the West.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
